Through the years what has been the one true constant that stands for greatness in our lives: The Classic. Its presence has touched us all so deeply. I can still remember as a youth hearing tales of heroics from legends such as Jeff Hendershott in games that battled to the end. But The Classic is about more than just great players making spectacular plays. It’s what it stands for. An idea, dreamt by a man, that for one time during the year we can gather together with our brothers in a celebration of one of the greatest games ever invented. And it is in this celebration, this battle, that we come together, not divide. For a couple of hours we raise ourselves to a higher level of existence which we never dreamt possible. While victory is nice it is the struggle that is important. JH’s dream is a reality. I know. I’ve seen The Classic from all aspects from observer to victor. With recent events I have grown to respect The Classic more than anyone can realize. Women come and go, school comes and goes, jobs come and go, but The Classic is eternal. Even when you can no longer physically play the game your mind will still play. Dan Hendershott
